Overview

Stefan Current Transformers

Current transformers step down higher primary currents to protect measuring instruments and switchgear control gear against high fault currents, used for the supply to protection devices in low-voltage installations.

Two constructions are available: moulded case CTs for recording and processing high currents, and split core CTs that fit around existing conductors without disturbing the installation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between moulded case and split core CTs?
Moulded case CTs are fixed-body units used when high currents need to be recorded and processed. Split core CTs open around an existing conductor, so they can be fitted without disturbing the installation.
What accuracy classes are available?
Stefan current transformers are available in Class 0.5, Class 0.2S and Class 1, covering both general metering and higher-precision measurement needs.
What current range do these CTs cover?
The range spans 40A to 6000A primary current across the model line, with split core units available up to 5000A.
Where should current transformers be mounted?
CTs are mounted on the busbar or conductor being measured, inside switchgear, distribution boards or motor control centers, ahead of the protection relay or meter they supply.
